Terrence Martins
MR. TERRENCE MARTINS has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of RBTT Financial Holdings with effect from July 1, 2000.
Mr. Martins, an outstanding career banker, formerly held the position of Group managing director and chief operating officer. He sits on the Board of Directors of RBTT Financial Holdings Limited and some of its major subsidiaries including, The Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, Royal Merchant Bank and Finance Company Limited, Royal Bank Trust Company (Trinidad) Limited, Antilles Banking Corporation (Curacao) N.V., Antilles Banking Corporation (St. Maarten) N.V., First National Bank of Aruba N.V. and BancAssurance Caribbean Limited.
According to a release, Mr. Martins started his career with The Royal Bank of Canada in Guyana in 1959, and accepted a position with The Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago Limited when the bank was localised in 1972. He has held many key strategic and tactical positions, and was appointed deputy managing director in February 1977, and managing director and chief operating officer in June 1998.
Mr. Martins paid tribute to the distinguished career and contribution of Mr. Peter J. July, who relinquished the position of chief executive officer, and will now focus on the Group's strategic direction, overseas expansion and business alliances.
