A sound option for LoJ

THE EDITOR, Madam:

OF THE four options for the rescue of Life of Jamaica Limited, published in The Financial Gleaner of July 7, 2000, Option Three - Sale of the company to a third party, with LOJ managing it in the interim - appears to be the soundest of the lot, particularly as a cash-rich local conglomerate wants to buy LOJ Ltd.

Purchasing a company with management know-how thrown in is quite alright, provided that there is a clause in the purchase agreement to let them off the production train as soon as they expose their limitations.

Dr. Omar Davies and Patrick Hylton would be able to make a dent in the FINSAC obligations in a true and genuine sale-cash in exchange for value given.

I am, etc.,

FITZ CASSERLY, FCA
