  • Ian Goodison football

    THE opening ceremony and uniform parade of the 2000 Group 7 Traders Insports/Ian Goodison Football competition and the Insports/Connie Francis Kingston and St. Andrew Netball competition gets underway today at the Stadium West playfield, starting at 11:30 a.m. Special guest will be Minister of Tourism and Sports Portia Simpson Miller. Following the opening ceremony and uniform parades, the Netball League begins at noon at the Leila Robinson Courts with 12 matches scheduled. Two matches will be played in the football competition: Nannyville vs Stony Hill at 1:00 pm. and defending champions Lexus vs Hagley Park at 3:00.

  • Skittles tourney

    AS teams gear up for the upcoming Stallion Stout skittles competition on August 6, Rowe's Strikers will host three teams in a quadrangular tournament today at 134 1/2 Red Hills Road starting at noon. They are Track Price Plus, Meadowvale Strikers and Cherry's Strikers. Rowe's Strikers will oppose Track Price Plus at noon, while Meadowvale take on Cherry's at 3:30 p.m. The winners will meet in the final late in the evening. There will complimentary Stallion Stout for patrons.

  • Guinness domino

    TEAMS wishing to enter the 2000-2001 Guineas all-island domino competition should register this Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the headquarters of the Jamaica Domino League, 13 Duke Street in downtown Kingston from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., or telephone A. Lennon or L. Nelson at 92 24338.

  • U-15 cricketers for camp

    JAMAICA's three representatives on the West Indies Under-15 team to tour England next month have been named to train alongside 30 junior players selected for the upcoming Capital Credit Bank Youth Camp which commenced at Sabina Park on Friday. They are Xavier Marshall of York Castle and the St. Ann Parish team, Howard Powell of St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) and Krishmar Santokie of Glenmuir. They will benefit from specialised training during the three-week camp before departing for Trinidad on July 15. The camp, which ends on July 26, will prepare Jamaica's Under-19 squad for the upcoming regional youth cricket tournament.

  • Kepple, Moore score 100s

    LED by unbeaten centuries from Maurice Kepple (101) and Carlton Moore (100), Lewin's Hardware topped Zone B of the Campari Cup cricket competition last Sunday when they defeated Eagle CC at Content Gardens in St. Ann. Kepple and Moore, both Kensington Senior Cup players, shared in a huge unbroken partnership in Lewin's 336-4 declared. Skipper Owen Lewin chipped in with 46 and Patrick Walfall 43 as Patrick Harty took 3-79. Due to the late declaration, Eagle CC refused to start their reply, thus conceding to Lewin's Hardware who will now advance to the super six stage of the competition (top three from each zone).
