NATIONAL HOUSING Trust (NHT) beneficiaries have began getting their letters of possession and keys for serviced lots and studios in two new NHT developments.
Some 70 beneficiaries of the Duncans Hills Housing Scheme in Trelawny were presented recently with letters of possession for serviced lots in that development, while the first 25 keys were handed over to beneficiaries of the Royal Place Estate development in St. Catherine.
Eventually, over 200 persons will benefit.
Another group of the Duncans Hills beneficiaries will be receiving their letters of possession by the first week in July while the remaining beneficiaries of Royal Place are expected to be handed their keys before then.
Duncans Hills boasts 150 serviced lots while Royal Place Estate comprises 134 duplex studio units.
At the recent handing over ceremony for the Duncans Hills lots, NHT regional manager, Novelette Forbes, encouraged the beneficiaries to start home construction as early as possible to avoid any inflation in building costs and to reduce the period of paying rent elsewhere while servicing their loans.
Approximately 50 per cent of the beneficiaries who received letters of possession plan to begin construction before the end of the year, said NHT in a release.
Duncans Hills and Royal Place housing schemes were two of four NHT-financed schemes advertised in August 1999. Some 457 persons applied for the Duncans Hill lots while 5,032 applications were received for the units at Royal Place.
The list of successful applicants for the respective schemes were published last year October and November.
