Raves for Wayne
WAYNE Marshall's newest release, Girl From Columbia has been getting rave reviews from his dancehall peers. The single showcases Marshall's uncanny ability to both deejay and sing in different styles, and is set to revolutionise dancehall music. "The song gives me the chance to show off the skill, style and originality that I know I can bring to dancehall. I was able to both deejay and sing in different styles, and my idol, Bounty Killer loves it, I expect big things from this song, it can go international," Wayne Marshall said.

Toddler for Hilfiger contract?
FORMER Scare Dem crew member Harry Toddler is being courted by popular designers Tommy and Andy Hilfiger to ink a five year contract for the entertainer to wear the well-known Tommy Hilfiger brand on all his concert tours. "The deal could well involve a six-digit US figure, and Toddler will also be the highlight of Tommy's All Star Party on July 29 in Bermuda," manager Blue said.

Capleton's generousity
LAST week, deejay Capleton donated $1 million to institutions within his native parish of St. Mary - the Port Maria hospital, the Islington Secondary and Primary schools - as part proceeds from his show, 'A St. Mary Mi Come From,' which attracted a 20,000 strong crowd. According to a source close to the deejay who is affectionately dubbed 'the Fireman': "The King wanted to give something back to the parish, so he chose to focus on the key areas of health and education."

Cocoa Tea's single, 'She's My Baby' recorded for ace producer Bobby Digital, is reportedly doing well overseas. The single is now number 6 on the New York reggae charts. "I am pleased with the success of the song so far, and with the release of the new Roaring Lion rhythm," the singer said.

Great Performance
WARD 21, known for their singable hooks, and spitfire lyrical deliveries, is arguably the hottest dancehall group right now. With hits such as 'Bloodstain', and dancehall fave 'Pain', the crew is set to blow up on the urban music scene. The group recently performed at the Club Warehouse in Queens, New York. "The vibes were great, it was perfect, the crowd was a little small but everything else flowed. WARD's performance was so good that Elephant Man and Lexxus, who were both in the crowd and not booked to perform, touched the stage afterwards in respect of what WARD did," Baby G, road manager of WARD 21, said.

Bogle for SASHI
Ace street dancer Bogle has hinted that multi-platinum selling singer Whitney Houston may well perform on this year's SASHI beach party on August 27 . "She was in the island a few weeks ago with the promoters, but we have definitely confirmed Brian McKnight, Tyrese and Joe. Whitney could be on hold 'cause she's said to be in rehab now, and everything depends on her management, but SASHI is definitely on, it's a Hollywood ting," Bogle said. The Sashi beach party was one of the most talked about events for the year 1999.
