WI batsmen fail again

CARDIFF, (Reuters) -

BRIAN Lara flopped again as West Indies were bowled out for just 97 in their second innings on the second day of their match against Glamorgan yesterday.

Glamorgan were left with a victory target of 134 today.

Former England off spinner Robert Croft claimed Lara's scalp for the second time in the match when he trapped him leg before for 11. Croft had a match return of 8-70.

Lara's 32-ball innings represented some improvement on his previous scores of one, one and nought on tour but did little to help the West Indies cause.

Boasting a first innings lead of 36, the touring team slumped to 20-4 in their second innings with Lara's dismissal before Ridley Jacobs and skipper Jimmy Adams led a spirited recovery.

They shared a fifth-wicket stand of 50 off 120 balls but Adams's dismissal for 13 to the fast medium bowling of Alex Wharf, who took 4-9 off 10 overs, prompted a further collapse.

Jacobs was top scorer with 43 off 100 balls.

Earlier, legspinner Mahendra Nagamootoo had given the Glamorgan batsmen a torrid time, taking 4-12 in 19 overs to help dismiss the county side for 140.

Nixon McLean and Reon King each took three wickets.
