A plea for water
THE EDITOR, Madam:
FOR YEARS the National Water Commission has been using as their motto, 'Water is Life'. I get the feeling that the water company is only using the three words loosely in an effort to trick potential customers in believing that they really care about providing an efficient service.
If the Water Com-mission is really serious about their motto, then I would like to invite its officers from the Christiana and Mandeville offices to use the vehicles which have been purchased and are now being maintained by taxpayers money to visit areas such as: Santa Hill, Bullocks, Nine Miles, Baillieston and adjoining communities and allow the residents to explain to them what the motto really means.
For more than three months now residents in the afore-mentioned areas have been wishing that the precious commodity will start flowing from pipes in their homes and the standpipes nearby.
Come on NWC, what's the purpose of having a booster pump at Zinc Shop to serve the areas and when water is being pumped from Christiana to that facility, there is no one to turn it on? Why is it that whenever the water happens to reach the booster pump, the precious commodity just keeps overflowing for days and thousands of gallons going to waste, while residents wish for some to flow out of their pipes. Why is it that the NWC has so many workers in the Christiana area but no one to monitor the Santa Hill booster pump?
If you are really serious that "Water is indeed Life", then kindly address the worrying situation now being faced by the residents.
I am etc.,, GEORGE HENRY, Box 56, Spaldings P.O., Clarendon
