Resume hanging forthwith

THE EDITOR, Madam:

ON THURSDAY the 11th instant I read a Weekly Gleaner which gave some information of Mrs. Playfair's tragedy.

Although I'm shocked at the cruel, violent way that lady's life went, it was most appalling to read of the rapid rate violence escalated to 25 from Good Friday to Easter Monday. What was further frightening was now 300 people murdered by gun, knife or other force since January. Something has to be done to stop the massacre of people.

In my opinion, hanging should start forthwith, and quite a few laws need amending to give judges more power for sterner punishment.

When circuit court opened recently, of 235 cases down to be tried and of that amount 135 are murders!

I am, etc.,
