Germans like working in Jamaican studios

THE GERMANS keep on coming and showing up at the most unexpected places. That leaves Jamaicans to wonder what, apart from the sea, sun and sand, is pulling them to Jamaica.

"It's the reggae music... Bob Marley and the rest," said German producer 'Lani Pioneer' and singer Tolga.

The German duo who came searching for the ideal place to lay tracks of reggae music found it at Celestial Sound Recording Studio, Molynes Road, Kingston, operated by Steven Ventura.

"It's wonderful here. Pleasant people, good equipment. Believe me, it's the right feeling too," 'Lani Pioneer' told The Gleaner.

The project, which began with several days of studio work, is expected to last for a number of months.

Apart from recording the German singer Tolga, Ventura will do the mixing and laying of rhythm tracks. A number of other German artistes are expected to arrive on the island to contribute to the project.

Germans have been exposed to reggae music for a number of years through such shows as 'Reggae SuperJam', which is promoted in that country.

Tolga has also been linking with a number if Jamaican artistes, including Richie Stephens, who worked with her on Heat Of The Night. The German singer has also done collaborations with Lady Saw on an all-star album, which also featured Harry Toddler and General Degree.

On their return to Germany, they intend to encourage their countrymen to come to Jamaica.

"We have found some of the best studios for voicing, diverse rhythms and artistes who are not afraid to express their inner feelings," 'Lani Pioneer' told The Gleaner.
