Its time to love again

THE EDITOR, Madam:

THE FIRST time I visited Jamaica was in 1990, when I was working in Kingston as a young rural engineer on a student exchange programme. Since then I am coming to the heart of the Caribbean in intervals of all two years to cultivate my friendships and to learn more about this unique island and its story. With my travels I developed a great fascination and love for your people and I was greatly improved from the way Jamaicans try to live together. I saw and see a very great, unused potential of people's capacities. Also I see the great mostly unused natural resources which were given to this special blessed rock.

Because I wanted to know more about Jamaica I studied the history, I was talking to people and I was listening to the good old ska and rock steady tunes from the 1960s. With all this information I realised and discovered that in the good old days there was a special harmony and love in the society. Jamaicans had a deep spiritual and moral fundament which was providing a nice living together for several decades.

Life was always hard and tight in Jamaica but living together peacefully and sharing life with other persons was satisfying and covered the tears of hard daily life. Jamaicans were living the Bible in a special noble and humorous way nearly perfect. The vision of, "Out of many one people" came true. The result was highly spiritual men and women who were enjoying this beautiful creation. It was a special open society on this globe, who were knowing good or bad.

My last visit to Jamrock early this year gave me really a shock. What was to be foreseen came into reality. On one hand I was facing a quick and great increase of negative, destructive emissions (for example car traffic, air pollution, people's aggression, loud music in public etc) and on the other hand I saw a people who weren't in the position spiritually to react in a positive way to these destroying vibrations.

I saw a people in separation without really caring for the so-called brother and sister anymore. An unteached people in a daily struggle used by companies, organisations, politics and churches for their interests. The result is and will be a more and more selfish society also in Jamaica which I know from long time in Switzerland. A really sad development for Jamaica. But in this worldwide time of survival, revival, Armaggedeon everybody has to make his own decision which way leads to happiness. Beloved Jamaicans, wake up and follow the narrow way of true life and love again. You know this way since long time.

There is one question I really love to ask, is there any grace and mercy without obedience to the Law of Life. Bob says One Love.

I am, etc.,

ARMAND BOSONNET, Rural Engineer, Bleichestrasse 10, 8400 Winterthur, Switzerland
