NATIONAL FORWARD Walter Boyd will leave the island at 3:00 p.m. today to take up his contract with Wales-based English third division club Swansea.

Boyd was expected to fly out yesterday but, according to reports reaching The Gleaner, he was delayed after his local club, Arnett Gardens, received information that he needed to undergo a medical and blood tests before leaving.

Contact was made with the Jamaica Football Federation and Phil Graham, Boyd's agent in London, and the green light was given for him to travel today. It is understood Boyd had already done various medical tests while on trial at Swansea last month.

The way was cleared for Boyd to join Swansea when he received a United Kingdom work permit on Wednesday.

A veteran of 68 internationals, the 27-year-old Boyd is expected to earn about 200,000 pounds per year.
