... 1000 families to benefit ­ PM



Patterson

PROJECT RELOCATION 2000 announced by Prime Minister P.J. Patterson yesterday will affect some 1,000 families in the first instance. Mr. Patterson told National Housing Trust (NHT) beneficiaries in Manley Meadows, east Kingston that it would be islandwide in scope and would benefit even non-NHT contributors.

"It is no point in having good housing for your contributors if they are surrounded by a sea of misery, Mr. Patterson said.

US$4b for MoBay expansion

WESTERN BUREAU: MONTEGO BAY businessmen Winston Dear and Mark Kerr-Jarrett, yesterday assured the St. James Parish Council that funds are in place for a US$4.4 billion development plan which they have created to expand the city to the south.

Although no definite date has been set for the start of the multi-billion dollar development, dubbed 'Montego Bay South', Mr. Kerr-Jarrett told the Council that work on phase one would begin shortly.
