UWI exams unaffected by riots
THE THREE days of civil unrest have not affected regular examinations at the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies. These exams are slated to begin on Monday, April 26, Assistant Registrar for Examinations on the campus, Cordell Nelson, said yesterday.
Mr. Nelson said the University's regular exams are on target to begin on Monday. He said that despite the disruptions, staff had been in office taking calls from students and keeping them up-to-date with exam arrangements. No changes have been made to the regular examinations timetable, he stated.
Mr. Nelson noted that there are cross-campus exams which are offered on the same day and at the same time across the University's three campuses and its schools of continuing studies in non-campus countries.
One such exam, the examination in Pathology/Microbiology for students in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, will go ahead today as scheduled and begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Old Library.
The departmental in-course examination in Quantitative Research (SY22C) for students in the Department of Sociology and Social Work which was scheduled for Wednesday, April 21st at noon, will take place today at 1:00 p.m. in the Dramatic Theatre.
He added that there were other courses examined by continuous assessment in the Faculty of Arts and Education's Bachelor of Education programme and some French Oral examinations which will be rescheduled, but said that these were easier to reschedule.
